I thought feed being outside would be good for them. They would not have to go back inside to eat.  Maybe not a good idea? They will need feed inside at least sometime. For sure I'd like the water outside but they need it inside too in case I need to keep them in the Egg Mobile longer term. So I guess food inside and water inside and outside. I will be throwing some scratch and food scraps outside every day when I collect eggs. The nests I want them to mostly go into from the outside. But then again, if they are stuck inside all day, say because of coyotes or summer storm, or just when I first move them to a different pasture, they need access to the nests too. I am trying to figure a simple awning made of garden shade cloth that can be pulled out for extra shade. It needs to be open weave enough that gusts of wind won't rip them off the EM. I am designing in my head right now so it's all kind of up in the air (head) hoping to land in the right places.

Why put their feed outside?  Feed attracts predators and wild  birds.
