Despite my efforts my hen died. She was eating well and her crop was fine. I let her out to forage yesterday and she was scratching and eating but she had a hard time standing-perhaps b/c she lost parts of some toes. I had her in a cage and this morning DH said she was sitting up and appeared OK. When I went out a few minutes ago she was dead. At least she didn't die in fear and being pecked to death .
