Yes they do have recalls as do many other U S manufactures ... along
with many many people food processors. It's a scary world out there and
it behooves all of us to take care with what we eat and feed :-)

Shirley, read the ingredient label on the Purina food. I have cats. I will not feed them cat chow. The people on this list think of Purina recalls, but what bugs me about it is the cat food has "animal digest" in it. It's used as a flavoring. It's clean, undecomposed animal tissue that has been chemically or enzymatically treated. It can be anything except hair, horns, teeth, hooves or feathers. The list of sources of this animal tissue is guaranteed to gross you out.

I don't suggest anyone feed anything a Purina food.

Debbie

What is wrong with purina?  That's what I feed.  Shirley

There is a feed called Flock Raiser that is supposed to be good for all of them. I like it as it has a higher protein level and is supposed to be good for layers too. Angelique

Re: [CHICKENS-101] Duck feed question

I would stick with a duck feed /grower or gamebird feed.  If you feed something where the protein is to high you can end up with angel wing where the wing(s) may stick out ...it can be handled early by taping the wing but if it goes on the duck will remain that way.

Had a feed question about our ducks that we have we are wondering what feed is the best to give to ducks.  I was told by my local feed store that we could just give laying feed.  Is this good enough for them currently we have 5 ducklings in the brooder which for them we are using non medicated chick starter and also a Manna Pro Gamebird/Showbird feed mixed together.  Is it ok to use the laying feed for our older ducks or is there a special duck feed we should be feeding them also is it ok to feed the crumbles or is the pellets the best form.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Same here ...we use all-stock mixed in with many feeds ...here it is
basic COB ( corn/oats/barley ) with molasses and pellets.
