I used tom get a thin one every so often, too--haven't since the fox visited last year, so it appears it was one individual prone to laying the thin shell. Mine get oyster shell grit (I think--have to go look at the bag) as well as lots of crushed eggshells available (and they love them), so they get plenty of calcium.
