Re: [CHICKENS-101] Moldy Bread

As already stated--"It depends!"

Remember that chickens, in their original state, were opportunistic feeders--a kind way of saying they are perfectly happy being scavengers as well as eating their green grass, bugs, and feed. They'll eat a dead critter or a wilted bit of green or a boozy drop apple that you and I wouldn't touch. They love the compost pile and the manure in the geldings' stalls (the mare isn't worth bothering with--her digestion is far too good and she spills *nothing!*)

Yesterday, my lot had a bag of rolls from a friend--a little dry and with some specks of green fuzz, They ate it all, snatched bits from each other, played keep-away, and sure seem to be absolutely fine today. It wasn't completely gross, though, and of course they had other choices. Trust their instinct.

Kind of like how we don't advertise that our hens eat an all-vegetarian diet, huh?
