I get these too. I think it is my oldest hen (barred rock) who lays them. The shell is very thin but the membrane attached to the shell is strong. It makes it difficult to keep the yolk intact since I have to struggle to open the egg.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Egg Question
OK, I have another oddity.
Every once in a while I get an egg with paper thin shell. It collapses in my hand.
I have 9 Rhode Island Reds, I feed them organic pellets and organic scratch.
I also give them greens from the garden, they have plenty of water, they have a dust bath area.
I get one about every 10 to 15 days.
Any ideas?
Thanks
~Dr.Doug
