Re: [CHICKENS-101] Two Pullets missing in two days

I have netting over one of my pens and it works well.  Of course, one of the hens spotted a small gap and she flew up and through, and then some others followed her and the hole became bigger.  Had to repair it, but I haven't had any hawks try to go through.  I have heard of people tying some bright colored disks like CD's on the net but have not tried it myself.  I know CD's tyed on string over a garden will help keep out bird,  good luck.   Susan

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Two Pullets missing in two days

Sunday evening I noticed that one of my Silver Laced Wyandotte Pullets was
missing. I looked all over for her and never found her. This morning one
of my Gold Laced Polish bantams was missing. Again I couldn't find any
trace of her. I am suspecting a hawk, but not sure. There is no blood,
trace and no bodies. The only way into the run would be over the fence and
the coop is like fort knox. I always meant to roof the run, but instead
put fruit tree netting over the run tonight when I got home from work. I
don't want to lose chickens. Anyone else know how well the netting holds
up?
