Our heat has been nothing like what some of you are getting... But what you've all posted reminded me of my dad's descriptions of India (where he was stationed during the War). And in turn I used to recite Kipling's "Paggett, M.P." for him (about a politician who came to India during the cool months, and sneered about the "Asian solar myth"--until someone got him to agree to stay longer...)
