Teresa, I'd guess over heating, heat stroke. I lost 5 when we were still in school and I couldn't be home during the day. Lost 2 more out of 3 that came in when I had school training on a hot day. Haven't lost any since I have been able to be home, but I have not had to deal with 108 degrees. 108... is hotter than their body temp. Once water gets hot it no longer cools them and they have no way to cool off, so they stop drinking. You can also try adding electrolytes and vitamins, along with ice to their cold water. You are fighting temps that are just flat out dangerous.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Need some advice
I've lost two hens in the last week and a half, and I'm not sure what the deal is. It's been REALLLLY hot, and after the first one that was an older (like 2 1/2+ yrs old one) I started letting them out of the coop and pen during the day(I haven't previously let them out of their coop and pen because of the predators around, but it's been SOOO hot, I figured I'd just have to take the chance vs leaving them in to get too hot and die), they mostly come out for a couple of hours and go back in the rest of the day. The first one gave no signs, just went in to feed and she was gone. So this morning I went in to let them out (I have to herd 'em out at first), and one of my reds that is just a bit over a year old, was under their perch and not wanting to move. I figured I'd loose her, and I did this evening. Thing was she was the first I've caught being 'off'. And she just wanted to set, under their perch. And her top notch and skin around her beak was very pale and not bright red. SO I'm asking could this mean she had something? Or could it just be the heat? I know my brother lost about 5 yesterday, just due to the heat (it's been 108+ here). I just want to make sure I don't have something going through my coop or something.
