Re: [CHICKENS-101] The wee ones.........

Dawn, They'll get harder the older they get. I'd get a pen going with bushes, grasses, and grape vines. Hopefully you will not have more than one male. They are territorial.

Laura
I'm so sorry to hear this.
My DH bought 8 BW from my feed guy a week ago yesterday, they were day olds. I'm down to 5. Hardest darn things I've raised yet.

I can't remember if I told you all I hatched four bob white quail, along with two guineas and a turkey poult.  The little bw would run and hide under the turkey's wings or the guineas, if they were closer.  All were doing well.

The guy I hatched them for came over and got them, yesterday.  I told him I was going to miss John, Paul, George and Ringo, and I was pretty sure the guinea keets and poult would, too.

I talked to my friend, his wife, tonight and asked how they did.  Sadly, all four were dead this morning.

With all this horribly hot weather, who would have thought it would dip into the low 50's at night.  He had put them in with some doves and thought they would be alright.

I am not hatching any more eggs for anyone else.  I nurtured those little imps from the moment their eggs were placed into the incubator and then after their hatch………all for naught. Dammit.
