Re: [CHICKENS-101] off topic, but I needed to share...

So sorry to hear that you have lost your companion.
it is alright to mourn...don't let anyone tell you "it was just a dog"
some people don't know what it is like to know the love that dogs can give.

This is sort of off topic.. but wanted to share...
My cavalier king charles spaniel that i have mentioned occaisionally died last night..

He was diagnosed in June with a grade 3 heart murmur and the beginnings of
congestive heart failure... We put him on medication when the coughing became
more than occaisional and he had been slowly declining since then.

except for not wanting to eat once in a while he was happy and not acting sick... ( but he ate if I gave him wet food, so how bad could it be?)

anyway .. it was my birthday yesterday and he seemed very chipper.. almost no coughing and begging for treats at every chance... which was a nice gift for me to think that he was stabalizing on his meds and I would get more time with him...

the meds make him have to pee all the time so getting up in the middle of the night has become habit... he got up at 11:30, I let him out and when he came back in, he often dawdles so I go back to bed with out him and he usually follows about 15 min later ... he didnt come up this time..

when my husband woke at 3:30 I could hear him talk to the dog downstairs, and then he called up that i should come down, I knew what he was going to say...
It looks like his heart gave out in his sleep. He looks peaceful I am grateful that he didhnt have to spend any time miserable ( look at youtube videos of dogs with congestive heart failure)

Also on a positive note, now that he is gone, my other dog, a DDR Shephard, no longer has to be crated ( the two were very naughty together) so he can be a more effective deterant to anyone that comes to the door...

When hubby gets home tonight we will take care of his remains.. I have videos of him at ZillasCoop on youtube... I am gonna miss him..

Back to your regularly scheduled program..
