Well, here the facts, just the facts. I go out to see my girls every 2 hours or so. I knew I had 3 barred rock roosters. Found a great home for 2. The 3rd one is rather wussy and I believed he could live nicely and in harmony with RIR.
As I was doing my daily cleaning, little black silkie was making noises. Went to investigate. She has turned into a rooster. then, my one americuna was facing off with my RIR hen. I noticed that the neck feathers with fluffed out -- and thought -- didn't know the hens did that. Didn't give it another thought -- until as I was cleaning dishes, she also turned into a rooster and started crowing.
This means I am back to 5 roosters.
May have to get some more coops built and let them have their own hens. Still can't believe that I was unaware of the sex change.
