Karen, Is your hen in an area where you can give her a heat lamp or 100 bulb for her and her chicks after the eggs hatch? I'd give her support nearby her nest. It's good that you have food and water by her nest so that she will not have to move to teach her chicks to eat and drink as they hatch. Usually I jump the gun and help the hen teach their chicks to eat and drink too.

I guess she is just getting off the nest to poop. She eats the food I give her and drinks the water. This was the first time that I had seen here off the nest. She seems very determined to hatch those eggs.
