I'm in Delaware. And personally I don't have a good feeling about this one. We didn't really get anything last year with Irene. We are in the Northern part, not anywhere close to the beaches. But we are about a mile from the Canal and if it floods the town over and our crick and the swamp behind us it could get interesting in the yard.
Sat I will be moving the chickens and guineas that are living in kennel cage run and a run into a house I'm not using right now. It leaks but at least they will be out of the wind. The pair of Seramas that are in with the Silkies and some other bantams will be coming in the house in case we loose power and it get's chilly. We have a wood stove. Worse comes to worse we will move my 3 Pygmy goats and my goat chicken into the garage. Also filling a plastic garbage can with water just in case for the outside animals - we have well water and no electric, no water. My other concern is the trees behind our MH and the one's across from my chicken houses.
Going to be a busy day. Moving yard stuff in, etc. But at least I will feel better if it does get bad. Sonny ckd Craigs List earlier this eve. Ads for gennies popping up already.
A funny. Tony Lee and I went to the grocery today to get bottled water. I see this older gentleman with his cart stuffed with water, tp and paper towels. What the?
Be safe!

I know I'm probably over-reacting, but we're contemplating a horrendous storm early next week. We seem to get these in the late summer/fall lately. But this looks like it has the potential for really ugly. Is anyone else in the northeast wondering about the approaching storm? They've said "if" it hits, it will be more destructive than Irene...Irene was pretty bad!!! I think our coop is sound, but even so, I'm thinking of putting the girls into a dog crate in our barn (our barn is being used as a garage, and I don't want them to have free rein in there amongst the motor oil and such).
