I would think a couple of days. It varies. Of my last new pair, I had to pick up 1 of them 3 nights in a row and put in the coop.. After that she remembered herself.

Hi,I pick up our pullets (7) this week. The coop and run is ready. I will eventually like to have them free-range on a part-time basis (when I am home). My question is... how long is it recommended to leave them in the coop/run so they learn that is "home" so that they will come back to the coop at dusk. We have an acre so I don't think I can herd them back. Thanks,Morganne
