Re: [CHICKENS-101] Experience with capons

Before I got my chicks I was unsure if I wanted a rooster or not. I love the way they look! I remember years ago being able to buy capons in the grocery store but couldn't recall seeing them in recent years. I don't buy from the store anymore but from a local farm and never saw capons there either. I wondered about having a vet "neuter" them. My research found that most vets won't do the surgery and the cost would be high so anyone who still wants to "caponize" their birds can buy a kit from one of the online stores. It is a very brutal procedure! And it is done just by the "farmer"! http://www.mcmurrayhatchery.com/caponizing_kit.html
