Cathryn, Please reply ASAP! I have a case of cocci going on in my 2-4 week old chicks. I feed only medicated chick starter to the chicks. I first noticed bloody stools on Thursday and then started them on Corid last Friday (plus went ahead and I am treating all the chickens in my flock) but I forgot and was still feeding the chicks medicated chick starter. Everything I have read said that if you give medicated chick starter and Corid at the same time, it can be 'counter productive' (but not harmful) so I had planned on getting some non-medicated feed today and giving them Corid for 7 days instead of 5 (since my notes say to treat for 5 to 7 days followed by vitamins) but I didn't know it could cause kidney damage! I have been selling these chicks but it is important to me that I am reputable so I contacted everyone that I sold chicks to in the last two weeks and told them to watch out for the symptoms and offered to give them a refund or supply the Corid & vitamins. So far a couple people have contacted me that see some bloody stools but everyone wants to do treatment and to keep their chicks so I have supplied them with the meds but didn't ask what type of feed they were giving them. How bad is it that I gave them medicated feed during the first days of Corid? Please advise &/or suggestions?
Thanks,
Jennie
