Re: [CHICKENS-101] Experience with capons

Susan, I buy my b complex vitamins at my drug store, 2 for one.  Put half a crushed tablet per half gallon of water along with poultry vitamins, 1/4 to 1/2 tsp depending on the directions.  Change every day or twice a day if your chick's water becomes warm from their brooder.
When I receive extra male chicks (packing peanut chicks) I post them for free on Best Farm Buys with a picture.

Thank you. Where do we get these vitamins and how much in a gallon of water? Vitamins for ALL of the chicks?

Our brooder area is clean, we change out shavings every three days, change their water three times a day, now twice, if no poop, fill their feeder three times too.

We have 16 chicks in one of the biggest oval galvanized tub thingies, it's way longer in the middle than the ones they have at feed store, light at one end, food, water in middle, space at both ends. Different chicks, at different times, hang out under light, others at the other end and the 2 wobbly ones by the food or water. Or they run around. Is it too small?

Worried chick mama,

Susan

I would add B complex vitamins to water. Keep brooder very clean with no overcrowding.
