Re: [CHICKENS-101] Random Question

I have no idea but think it would be hard to find insurance for your hens.  Even if we are VERY fond of them, unless they are some super fancy show bird, they have a replacement value of somewhere around $20.00 or so.

That is one of the problems with keeping chickens IMO.  Very hard to justify any vet care when their replacement value is so low yet very hard to refuse care if something could be fixed.  BUT, you can hardly say hello to a vet w/o it costing at least $100.00.

But I feel like I owe ANY animal in my care the very best, so what do you do?!

Let us know how your insurance search goes.  I am very curious to hear what you discover!

Hi everyone,

I have pet insurance on my two cats. Now that I have 4 hens, I'm wondering if it's worth it to find insurance for my hens? I don't know what kind of illnesses or ailments they can get. Any thoughts or opinions?

Thanks,
Rania
