[CHICKENS-101] Noooooooooooooo!!!! My city doesn't allow chickens. :-(

Rats!!!

I was told that my city allowed residential backyard chickens.  But when I called the city they said no, they've never allowed poultry in residential areas.  <sigh>  I am soooooooooooo bummed out.  Of course you can't have a "big" operation of 25 chickens, but maybe they'd allow 4-5 hens?  Nope.  I went to a chicken workshop and the presenter said that sometimes a city clerk doesn't know so to ask others such as the county extension officeCalled them and they said no.  Called the feed store where I had been told that my city allowed chickens a couple years ago.  They were mistaken.  The city next door to me allows chickens but not mine.

I have a cousin who has chickens in her basement and her city doesn't allow poultry within city limits.  That's probably not going to work for me.

It was suggested that I go to a council meeting and ask that the ordinance be changed.  Waaaaaaaaa.  I may do that but I doubt I can change anything for this season. <sigh>  I really wanted some chickensThe eggs would be nice but I wanted them more as pets.

Thanks for listening.

Linda (with no chickens)  :-(
