Re: [CHICKENS-101] Problem, please help

Thank you Cathryn and Jeannette for your help. Wired chicken wings to the back of the cage last night (not an easy project). Caught another one (still not the big kahuna), but a testament to my cooking - they polished off the dog food and didn't even try the chicken wings.

Will keep on trying - she is sure to come out of hiding eventually.

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] Problem, please help

This has probably been covered before, haven't been on much, so I apologize for asking it again.

I have a possum problem. Got six of my chickens a couple of weeks ago. I have been sitting outside all night guarding ever since. I have also installed a spotlight as I know they don't like light.

Was able to borrow a large live trap. First night I set it, caught a young possum. Next two nights - food gone, trap locked and empty. I think she is big enough to keep the door from locking. I place the food at the far end but the dish is empty in the morning.  Don't want to use poison as I'm sure I would catch a cat - also wouldn't know if she was really gone.

Any ideas please?  This is a big trap - a little one I can see her keeping the door from locking, but I can't see how she can reach the food, spring the trap and still get out.

Thanks for any help.
