Whoa...that is a BIG SCARY PROBLEM! Electric fence - if you can't shoot them then shock the stuffing out of them. Bear flat out scare me, they are so unpredictable and powerful.

Hello everyone,
My hens & roo are getting big! Hoping the girls will start laying by mid June- early July.
As some of the New England area members may know, we have an odd tourist this year. A 2 year old Black Bear male/boar, has decided to visit. My local ACO told me a few chickens in the next town over became bear chow. Ive got, what I think is a sturdy coop, that's inside a fenced in yard,( half 6x8 spruce, half chain link),& two very alert dogs. The ACO told me that unless the bear tries to kill my wife or myself, I'm not allowed to defend my birds or dogs. Any " bear repellent" ideas?
