Thanks, George, you are too kind and the voice of reason.
I would like to toss in one other item here. This group is more social than most groups of this type. Think about it, people who raise chickens, perhaps they have a little more time than most or perhaps their values are a little different than most.
I, for one, enjoy that social element of the group at the best it leads to friendships outside the group and even visits.
So blab away, don't leave the group, ignore any negative you think you hear or feel.

The main strength has always been answering the question "WHAT DO I DO NOW?". I have always advised potential chickeneers to get some kind of a book. This not only gives you some information but leads you to the questions you need answered by the group. However, this may not always be easy to do. So we are here, "The Enablers." The "Files", "Links", "database" and even the "Photo" sections available on the menu have a lot of information from past and present members.

> Melanie asked about keeping chicks warm. `A chicks best friend is a thermometer `, it's that important. Next is draughts. Ignoring these things can be deadly. The back porch is generally not a good idea.
> Someone asked if Store Bought chicks were a good as hatchery chicks. And where do you think the store gets their chicks? The good side of chicks at the store is that they are still alive and maybe a couple days old. The first 10 days are critical and store chicks have passed the worst of it. The bad side is you have to take the store clerks word as to what they are. This can led to surprises.
