I've never fed mine grit or oyster shell. I've never tested my ground to see how much calcium is in the soil but it must be significant. My girls have hard shells. I'm just thankful that they get theirs naturally.
I was raised assuming that only cage birds needed grit and oyster shell. I guess it all depends on soil type then.
