Generally a black sex link pullet is the result of an RIR rooster and a Barred Rock hen. One such pullet is the Black Star. Many hatcheries have developed there own crosses These matings result in chicks that can be identified as male or female at hatching usually by color or some other markings. Many production birds are sex linked. They seldome breed true.
