[CHICKENS-101] Re: when can chicks go outside?

that is how I have done it as well with my chicks if it was still a tad nippy here in texas when I have them. And when the weather is really warm I do not really worry about it to much. Then when I started to introduce them to the flock I have a cage that they go into and I place it inside the run and they stay in there for about a week or so. Then for about 30 minutes while I am in the pen with them I will let them out to explore the run and for the other chickens to check them out. I will do this everyday till I feel its safe for them to be on their own because the full size are not caring who they are by this time. I have also put them in there at night so when the others get up they think they had always been part of the flock and never bothered them. But I wait till they are atleast a month or so old. Till then they have their own run they use so everyone can see each other and get used to one another.
