[CHICKENS-101] Re: Thin shell

Thanks everyone. I think I will get them some vitamins tomorrow. They do free range quite a bit so I'm sure they get the grit they need. Stevie, our Silkie, is probably at the bottom of the pecking order. But, I have never seen any of the birds push or peck another out of the way for food, water or any other reason. They roam together well, cuddle and bathe together. And when one is a distance away from the others she will call and they will call back. They all feed out of our hands, let us pick them up and pet them. They follow us around the yard and come when called. I read on the list a lot about flocks that are not quite so tame or have one or two that 'rule the roost'. That's not been my experience. They really seem to work together. Times will be a changing tho, we have 5 more chicks coming in mid June. I'm sure there will be a tougher time getting them all to work together in the same way. And one of the new chicks will be another Silkie. We have quite a wildly varied flock.
So, vitamins tomorrow!

Diana
