[CHICKENS-101] Re: feathers

 

HI Deborah. This is an interesting subject.

My freind got 10 hens just over 2 years ago her beautiful black & brown one got completely pecked of feathers on her lower back. blue cote stopped the other girls pecking her. But she only just grew her feathers back this year. It took over 2 years for the process.

Now I have 16 hens of which 2  recently got attcked by dogs I was looking after (1 in Jan 1 in march) This was accidents due to chickens escaping the compound when dogs were in garden. The odd thing is both my chickens grew their feathers back within a month of being attacked So I think it is down to how the feathers are plucked out? But hopefully some one else might know the answer. Jane & co
