Re: [CHICKENS-101] Re: Roosters 101

lol better watch the boot flinging comments on here, you'll get called an animal abuser.

LOL Don't blame you, there is a rule around here, if one attacks, and especially if they attack my kid, they're either going in the stew pot or gonna get to be lion bait in the trap. I recommend the trap, as they will get to live, over the stew pot meaning they will have their ornery little heads pulled off. (and yep now that the threat of morning sickness is gone, there is no leeway at this ranch, lol)

Thank you for your insight... every roo is different and even their life experiences are different... so its hard to tell what you are gonna get..

i had a particularly stark wake up call when our beloved chick stewie ( who spent most of his youth following hubby or on his head/shoulders).. became mature and went all Ninja-chicken on me coming out of nowhere and giving me a nice gash on my hand... after that we were prepared, a couple swats with the rake or fling with the boot and he pretty much steers clear ...

although one day the two roos teamed up and sucker punched hubby... but he had his overalls on so no damage done... hubby retaliated in such a way that they give him a wide berth now...

Its sad though, because Stewie was such a love before... oh well... actually ..its our sumatra hens that have become attention hogs ( though they wanted none of it before)
