Re: [CHICKENS-101] feathers

Usually it's 6 weeks, but can take more time.  Feathers need protein to grow.  If you are in a cold area where insect populations are low right now, I'd give them small dog kibbles in their feed twice a week. (approx 1 cup for 4 hens).

Subject: [CHICKENS-101] feathers

How long does it take for a chicken's back feathers to regrow? Our 11 girls are very happy that the Feather pulling rooster is gone. He has been gone for two months. How long will it take for the bare spots to feather out?

Thanks,
