I don't know about wierd, but my hens like to lay in the flower pots. They have been known to open bags of potting soil on the back porch and lay eggs in them. I had a serama hen set 3 eggs in an open bag of potting soil and hatch chicks. Boy, was she defensive of those eggs and chicks. I have a roo and 3 hens that free range in the back yard every day and I try to listen for the cackle to tell what area they lay eggs in. The other 12 or so don't leave their pen, which is pretty big. These hens lay in their nesting boxes, but only in about 3 of the dozen spots. Someone has made a nest in the back corner of the coop and I found 4 eggs in it yesterday. Crazy chickens! Occasionally one or the other will fly into the yard for a while and then go back. They are all put in their "house" for the night.

<<<<<<What's the weirdest place your hens have decided to lay their eggs?<<<<<<<<
Hmm so many weird places to choose from. Under tomato plants, in the goat feed trough, in my dogs dog house, on the goat milk stand, and on the ledge of the bar-b-q grill. Chickens, especially free rangers, are goofy about where they lay sometimes.
