Thank you much for your reply. I still wonder if I can cook and eat these "leather-eggs." Does anybody know?

 

I also found it strange that, although the regular (good) eggs were laid appropriately in the nesting boxes, this one was simply dropped on the floor! Could this be what is called a "wind" egg?
