I'm no expect but would suspect that the two soft shells were layed by the young birds. How old are they?

We have 8 Production Red laying hens. We have been getting 8 eggs per day on a regular basis. This morning we got 2 soft-shelled eggs and just 7 regular eggs. This has happened before, about a month ago. Although we do have other layers, they are not old enough to be laying yet. Is it possible that our Red hens are laying more than one egg at a time? Or are the young ones getting started very early?
Thanks!
