I am new to chickens and my chickens are new to life! One has started laying. The first few eggs were DELISH, and she seemed to know just what the nesting boxes are for. However, yesterday I did find an soft-shell egg on the floor of the coop! Even though I have had a separate feeder with just crushed oyster shells therein. Plus they have a large run to which all have access during the day. I sit here at my desk and love to watch their antics!
Questions:
1) Can one still eat a flexible, leathery egg?
2) How do I get her (hopefully eventually them) to eat the oyster shells or will they finally discover them?
You guys are fantastic! I know you have all the answers for us newbies!
Thanks,
Mary
