Hi! I'm Marlene, a resident of Illinois and live in a town about 50 miles west of Chicago. I joined Chickens-101 to learn all I can about raising chickens, caring for them, recognizing diseases and generally just anything I can learn about them. I personally do not own chickens but my granddaughters do. This is their first year with the birds and they have already gathered eggs and learned that when the weather gets colder the chickens stop laying. But I am asking why the chickens feathers fall out, I think my granddaughter said they lost feathers just around their heads when they stop laying.
I'm anxious to help my granddaughters and since they live about a hundred and fifty miles south of me we only communicate by phone, email and the internet.
