Last winter, a stray cat moved into my garage, where my bantams live in a pen. A few weeks later, her mother also moved in and both had litters of kittens over the spring and summer. Several times I have come into the garage to find the kittens or older cats in the pen with the chickens. The cats don't pay much attention to the chickens when they are in the pen. I think they might be attracted by the warmth of the bedding. The chickens pretty much ignore the cats. They simply tend to move to the side of the pen furthest away from the cats but don't act especially worried. I have been feeding the cats and since they are well fed they don't have much motivation to attack the chickens and even though they are bantams, they seem  a bit large for the cats to handle.

I'm looking for either a chicken breed that can hold its own against stray cats, or a number that work together to chase the cat away.

Is there such a breed or am I stuck with locking them in every night?  There are no other predators, so if it can withstand a cat or grow big enough that the cat won't mess with it, I'm interested in your information.
