It's an antibiotic, right? You take them yourself if you get sick enough, right? The usual deal is 10 days on and 10 days off.
I know. My daughter was so sick for so long as a baby that we wore out 10 different ones. Got so the bugs were thriving on the stuff. She'd actually get sicker, and we'd try the next one, which would be magic at first, then slowly do less and less.
Never had any real problems with them, other than that she has absolutely perfect teeth. Never got teenage acne either until she got to where she didn't need the meds any more.
Therefore-----I'd give the hen a couple of weeks and then don't worry about it. If it bothers you, use her eggs for baking for a while, if she lays any. I would not be afraid to eat them myself, especially cooked.
Remember, antibiotics don't last long in the body, that's why you have to keep taking them every day for so many days.
1/6 tsp. must be about one drop. Use an eyedropper. Ask a pharmacist, they can figure it out, and they have a neat little plastic tube thing with measures on it too. The ones I know would get quite a laugh out of measuring it for a chicken! Good quality plastic spoons measure exactly one teaspoon, the kind that come in a box from the grocery store. Handy for giving kids medicine.
Sorry for rambling, I acquired this medicine know-how the hard way. 16 continuous years of very sick child. By the way, she's 29 now, and very healthy!
Of course now I have a "teenager" who won't get out of bed, and won't do anything useful when she does..........just hangs out in the bathroom fussing.
So smile, I do! Glad she's alive!
Doesn't talk, can't swallow solid food very well, but a sweet and gentle soul anyway. And one thing she CAN eat is eggs!

***CORRECTION***
Sorry but I meant to write:
'It has been 10 days now and they HAVEN'T shown any more symptoms for days now so I am taking them off of the antibiotic.'
