Thank you for the reply. The crumbles are 18% protein. It's not the taste I worry about--it's all of the chemicals and preservatives in the cat food. (I have no choice about what the neighbor feeds his cat.) Two are about fourteen months old, but the third is only about eight months old. (Big mistake.)
I worry about increasing protein, because I thought I read that high protein damages younger chickens bone growth.
I'm sorry, but I am brand new to raising chickens, and the learning curve is overwhelming me. Even the county farmers' co-op just looks at me when I say, "organic." Nobody around here knows--nobody cares.
