[CHICKENS-101] 3 leghorns about to start laying and I want to add more chickens

Hello all,

My friend gave me I think 2 roosters and a hen leghorn or leghorn cross. They were colored Easter chicks that she didn't want anymore. She said they should start laying ( well I guess just the one lol) by the end of July. She is supposed to bring me two more from the same batch that I don't know the sex of yet. My goal is to have pretty much all laying hens. I want to add some different breeds to the mix as well. I don't have the capabilities at the moment to raise some chicks inside. I do have a cage though that I can leave inside the coop that will house small chicks. Can I get some and leave them in there until they get their feathers? I'm in North Texas and it has been in the 100s. Tuesday we get a cool snap and it is supposed to be 89 / 90. Can I leave baby chicks outside when it is warm? How long do I have to keep them separated from the bigger chickens?

Thanks,
Em
