It's been so wet lately that the girls have been trying to dust themselves on the floor of the chickenhouse in the hay leavings. what I would like to do is given them a tray of diatomaceous earth to dust in instead. does anyone have any thoughts about this? how big should the tray be? my girls are about 3 lbs each but my big boy is easily 7 - 9 lbs. Can I use a large plant saucer as the dusting tray or will that be too deep? what about the chicks? they're about two months old. should anything special be done for them?
