Our post office will deliver chicks if there is a reason why you cannot come and get them. When I sick, when they came in after I was at school, a postal worker jumped into a truck and delivered them. We have even had our postman make H's tavern his first stop when adult birds and started chicks were shipped and did not arrive before I made it to school. I owe my PO coffee and cookies again come to think of it. One time a serama came at 8am, and the PO employee shared their granola bar and cup of water with my chicken.

Always always always pick your chicks p at the post office. I have had the post master call me from 30 miles away because she was concerned about my chicks being left in a truck overnight. Most Post Masters are willing to do that for you.The mailman however is very rough with packages.
