Yes, I make my own kefir. And we have 80 plus chickens - of which 10 or so will be becoming stew once weather warms up enough to make harvesting a non-frigid experience. Too many roosters from my last hatches last fall. Plus, I'll see how well my older hens pick up on laying in the warmer weather. Some of them may be joining the stew crew as well. The barley sprouts really keep the younger hens laying well - but the older hens haven't really picked up yet. I'll give them another month or so.
How many birds do you have? I guess you make your own kefir.

We use barley. When sprouting barley, you need the whole grain, which
means either a hull-less variety or unhulled.
