Every once in a while, I let the girls roam the whole back yard, about ¼ acre, and at the end of the day it is real obvious what they like and what they don't.
Now someone once told me raw asparagus was poisonous, but my girls ate 2 plants to the ground, and no ill affects.

I buy romaine lettuce and give it to my small flock all winter. In the summer they get dandelions, grass and other greens that grow in my yard.
