Re: [CHICKENS-101] RE: broody hen

Deb, I'd bet I have at least 55-60 broody silkies and seramas; might be more.  I found a chick in the 5 month old silkie pen today.  They are not sorted by colors so I was relieved to see it was a big knobbed partridge with perfect feet. It's fussing in the brooder tub because it is by itself.  If it keeps this up I may  have to run out and grab and broody to take care of it/shut it up. Have to work bright and early.

Sigh!  I have FOUR broody hens!  2 hens are sitting on the same nest with a whole pile of eggs. The other chickens just lay their eggs on top of them, I guess. I don't know what I'm gonna do!  If all these eggs hatch out, we're going to be up to our ears in Modern games! And we have been trying to cut back!!

I have had a similar issue. I am hoping getting them out more soon will help. I also started putting heads of cabbage in coop to keep them busy.
