I planted a lawn last October and with the drought, it hasn't grown much. I haven't used any chemicals on it so when it got mowed the other day, I had they guy toss all the grass into the coop. They loved it! The next day, I tossed in a pumpkin that had been sitting outside since October and they were a bit timid about it, but are starting to eat it.
I appreciate all the tips on what to feed them from you guys. My girls are enjoying the more interesting tid bits these days.

I splurged and spent a buck yesterday on a head of lettuce. Arriving
back home, I tore off a number of leaves and then them into smaller
chunks. Heaved them over the fence and the chickens were delighted
with thier unexpected treat. Someone else mentioned hanging a head of
cabbage in the coop, but this works for me.
