[CHICKENS-101] [Chickens101] rooster temperment

So my rooster was sweeter before he started defending the girls. Now he is acting aggressive towards me. I had to go into the coop today to reset their plank they use to get into the coop and I let them all out so I could shut the door while I was doing it.

He will actually try to attack me. Ugh. I know it's his job and I'm happy he feels ownership towards the girls but I don't really want to have to carry a rake to keep him at bay. He went to attack me earlier and I pushed him away with the rake. I didn't do it hard, just enough to stop him from getting to me.

So the suggestion that I should hold him is not a viable one. I'm afraid he'll take out an eye. I did give him some treats personally before I gave any to the girls and I know he liked that. I got him back into the coop by tossing some greens in there after had feeding him some.

So I'm open to suggestions on how to make this a better relationship for both of us. I was struck once by my old rooster so I know how painful it can be. It makes me wary of him.

Since I can't pick him up, what can I do to get him to be a bit more tame. I read somewhere on the web, that production roosters are more aggressive. And my old rooster was hand raised by me. He would get aggressive with my daughter but never me or my son. We both fed him. Also, my daughter was very skittish around him. I finally told her to just stay away from him and to never get between him and his girls.
