A produce guy gave me a thousand box tops that are flat I an use them for the bottom, I have a shredder but not a cross cut one. It all sound doable now thanks.
I made my own chick feeder out of a Folgers container and a pie pan, worked great it's an auto feed.

Of course you can. You'll need to wash the crate off and on. Where with boxes you can compost them in a hole in the ground. You'll only have the one. I'll have 4 seramas and 2 silkies.
