I just looked up the Asian tiger mosquito which is responsible for transmission of the heartworm and found out it also transmits West Nile Fever to humans!! Guess that is where I got it. I wonder if my dogs should be tested now after spending a year in Arizona. I have been back in Washington almost six years and haven't seen any sign of heartworm symptoms.
