Re: [CHICKENS-101] Rooster Question

I'd integrate them and see what happens.  I bought 2 pairs of chickens, Lekenvelders and Cochin and put them together eventually.  They had been side by side in cages for over a month when I did that.  The Lakenvelder was dominant.  When he caught a cold and was coughing, the Cochin usurped his power.  Now they are chest butting and posturing to see who will be in control but no actual fighting.

You would be putting 4 roosters who know each other and get along in with 1 rooster who knows nobody.  Maybe your 1 rooster would quietly defer to the numbers............  Sounds like an interesting experement to me!

I have 6 hens, 1 rooster....I hatched out 3 hens, and 4 roosters.....I kept them separate until about 2 weeks ago...I put the hens in with the others, but they are afraid to venture outside of the chicken coop...the roosters I kept in a separate area of the coop....but they have outgrown that area...tried to sell them but no takers....
IS IS SAFE TO LET THEM OUT NOW OR IS THE 1'ST ROOSTER GOING TO TRY AND KILL THEM?

Thanks,
goat granny
