Does it close up as they mature?  Do the chickens know about this vulnerable spot?  Because the young Silkies I have seem to go for each other top knots!

Hi Georgia: Not like humans LOL. more like Dinosaurs. :) The skull has a narrow center ridge from front to back. There is no bone on either side. It's wide open to the brain.
